How To Host An Amazing Stuffed Teddy Bear Party!

If you’re planning on hosting a stuffed teddy bear party, as Mum and Dad you’ve probably got a good idea of how to run it, but here are a few tips from Party Teddies to make sure you’ve covered everything. If you can think of anything we’ve missed, please share your tips with us in the comments below!

Decide on Your Number of Guests

You can order your teddies individually or choose a party collection pack from three set sizes. I have read on various sites that you should invite the age of the child plus one, but we have seen parties from 2 guests up to 18! This really is dependent on the space you’ve got, budget, number of helpers etc.

Choose Your Teddies

Some people choose a teddy for each guest themselves, if they know their friend’s preferences. Others choose a selection, some children ask their friends to go on the website and choose a teddy, though this could be frustrating if people don’t get back to you! If you are not sure which to choose a party collection is another option for convenience.

A Good Location

Our bear making kits are designed to be used anywhere. Chose a location with plenty of floor or table space, depending on the size of your party. Great options include you lounge at home, borrowing Grandma and Grandad’s lounge (less clutter), a garden with rugs (fingers crossed for good weather!), hiring the local scout hut or village hall etc. etc.

How Long for the Stuffed Teddy Bear Party?

We recommend about 30-40 minutes for everyone to stuff a bear depending on the number of helpers and guests. So, a good option for timings would be as follows:

2:00 – 2:10 – Arrival with music (time for latecomers)

2:10 – 2:25 – Game, i.e. Musical Statues

2:25 – 3:05 – Stuff a bear time and free play once finished to get to know their new friends.

3:05 – 3:30 – 1 or 2 more games, depending on time to stuff a bear, i.e. pass the parcel, treasure hunt, pin the nose on the bear, etc.

3:30 – 3:50 – Party food

3:50 – 4:00 – Finish eating, wind down, collecting teddies up and popping in party bags with cake and or sweeties, etc.

Send the Invitations

These should be sent out about 3-4 weeks before the party date. We have some free downloadable invites on our website.

How to Stuff a Teddy?

Our kits are really easy, and there are picture instructions on the back of all the stuffing packs. We send out kits separately, to ensure their safe arrival. You can either make the kits up in advance or hand each part out as you need it.

Demonstrate to the kids how to take the pouch out of the teddy. The stuffing packs can be easily torn open to get stuffing. The kids should be able to manage, though may need a little help to make sure they are getting the stuffing into the hands and feet.

When Teddy is ready, a cuddle test is required. If no more stuffing is required each child should a make a wish as they insert their ‘love’ or ‘courage’ heart. Finally, pull the cable tie, and get an adult to snip the end of it off. Then place the pouch back in the teddy and close the Velcro.

To finish the teddy making activity, hand round the adoption certificates for everyone to fill in, or to write on for the children if they are younger.

Once they’ve finished playing with their teddies, you could pop them in the party bags, to save them getting mixed up. You could write the guests names on these in advance.

Do I Need to buy Anything Else?

Some paper plates and cups are a good idea. You could make sure they’re recyclable. Pictures on plates look great, but if your looking to cut costs we’ve found that kids are generally more interested in the food than what’s on the plate, so white plates should be fine!

Napkins are useful for wrapping cake in to take home but to save money, why not just serve the cake as dessert?

A disposable table cloth can be helpful, and if kids are sitting on the floor putting down picnic rugs is a good idea. Then you’ve also got the cost of food to factor in as well.

Our Teddies come with a take home bag, so you don’t need to purchase party bags.

Finally, a few sweeties or cheap prizes would be popular for the games.

Hosting a Stuffed Teddy Bear Party Is Great

A stuffed teddy bear party is great fun and provides a great activity for your home party. It should be quite straightforward to run, and our teddies provide a lasting memory of a fantastic day.
